This documentary began as a class assignment while I was a student at New York University. In working on the project I got excited about the prospect of trying to merge the art and performance worlds. Prior to doing the first segment of this piece, I had spent my time exclusively in the entertainment world; film and theater; and had virtually no knowledge of the goings on of the art world. What I began to see as I started working were the striking similarities between the two worlds divided by an enormous rift in thinking alone. It seemed that the entertainment world had sworn off the art world, claiming that it was flakey and incomprehensible, and that in turn the art world had sworn off the entertainment world, claiming that it was commercialized and mainstream, all the while producing similar, or at least related work. I hope that this video and art show will help to bridge the gap between artists and those working in the entertainment industry.
